Idk I feel like this is quite deceiving. Yes, Bello and Giolito had bad first innings but they didn’t pitch poorly to the point where I am not worried about them down the stretch. It was also on the road against the best offense in the sport. Just doesn’t feel quite right.
Of course, and it’s not official judgement, just potential speculation based on their start and history. 8 days rest can be good or bad depending on how you look at it. But, the ASB couldn’t have come at a worse time for this team. If they were at least competitive and just lost close games you could feel a little better, but the lifelessness from this team until the 7th inning today was certainly cause for concern. Hopefully we carry some momentum into the Philly series.
In the playoffs if you have a bad first inning you get the hook early, however if you have too many of these bad first innings (which were issues for them earlier this season) you won’t make the playoffs because you don’t get the early hooks in the regular season. But, I can understand why some wouldn’t be too alarmed. However, with their issues post ASB the last two season with a Wild Card spot in hand only to throw them away, it’s fair to question if this will be the same story. Only
time will tell though, today was a step in the right direction either way!

Fair to question sure. But Giolito was pitching on 8 days rest. Just isn’t a normal set of circumstances to make any real judgment
