Red Sox Snap Losing Streak: Even a Blind Squirrel Finds a Nut
⚾ For once, the Red Sox decided to act like a professional baseball team, snapping their disgraceful five-game losing streak by topping the Braves 5–1 on Friday night at Truist Park. Don't start planning any parades yet, but at least it wasn't another evening of embarrassment. After the past week's nightmare, fans were rightfully skeptical they'd ever see a decent outing again.
💥 Trevor Story finally remembered he's paid to hit the baseball, smashing a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Mind you, it took him 57 straight at-bats of absolutely nothing before he connected, but better late than never, right? Maybe someone finally reminded him he's here to contribute, not just fill a uniform and wave at sliders.
🔥 Lucas Giolito almost lasted five innings (a miracle these days), giving up just one earned run and keeping the Sox afloat. Sure, it wasn't exactly a masterclass performance, but considering recent starts, this was basically Cy Young stuff. We'll take any crumb of competence we can get.
🚒 The bullpen—usually a dumpster fire—actually showed up for once. Five relievers combined for over four innings of shutout baseball, allowing only a single pathetic Braves hit. Credit where credit is due, it's nice to see them not turn a modest lead into another crushing defeat for once.
💰 Rafael Devers added two insurance runs in the ninth, reminding everyone he's still not going to play first base, and his hitting insures that no one will ask him to do that very thing.
🤞 Before we get too optimistic, let's see if Walker Buehler can carry this momentum forward today against Spencer Schwellenbach. Spoiler alert: Don't hold your breath. Buehler has been erratic at best, and consistency is a foreign concept to this team right now.
📉 While this win feels good, let's not lose perspective. The Sox remain stuck in mediocrity, plagued by underperforming stars, shaky pitching, and questionable management decisions. There's plenty of blame to go around—this victory hardly erases the damage.
🎉 But for one night, Red Sox Nation had something resembling hope. Enjoy it, because we all know it won't last.
